A Very Happy Christmas and the Ugly Cry

Image
28 December 2020 6 months as a missionary WOOO!! Sooo wild that I have been wearing a tag for this long. I LOVE IT.  We had our Christmas Eve mission devo this week. It went so well! We poured so many hours into this online fireside, and we were SO worried about the streaming quality over zoom. The video for the opening and closing hymns were very delayed and slow, but by MIRACLE our video did not glitch or delay ONCE! It was seriously the best Christmas present. Another cool thing that happened this week was with our new friend Emiljana.  We were walking in to her shop one night to say "Hi," and I had tons of stuff in my hands so my book was in my purse. I had a thought that I should pull it out. So I shuffled all my bags and things in my hands around so I could hold my Book of Mormon! And as soon as I walked into the shop, she took the book out of my hand, opened it, and asked about it. SO COOL! Christmas this week! It was very fun and very different.  But we did get ou...

December 21, 2020  Hellooo everyone! A great quarantine week! -Stunning hike @Bovila -I went back to Berat for DONA'S baptism!   She is such a light and I admire her so so much.   -Online lesson with Aina who is getting baptized on Saturday!! Quarantine has been really good;  staying obedient even in hard situations brings SHUMË blessings. We have literally seen miracles this week. I feel so close to Heavenly Father, even though I sometimes feel very far from my family and loved ones! I am reading in 3 Nephi right now and I am always touched by when the Nephites hear His voice for the first time. 3 Nephi 11:3: "They heard a voice as if it came out of heaven... and not withstanding it being a small voice it did pierce them that did hear to the center, insomuch that there was no part of their frame that it did not cause to quake; yea, it did burn them to the very soul, and did cause their hearts to burn." This is so powerful because we truly feel closest to h...

Elevators and Real Quarantine!

December 14, 2020 Howdy Everyone, We spent the first bit of this week in quarantine, but have been out since Wednesday!!  We just found out a few minutes ago that the whole mission is now in quarantine! Woot woot haha! Earlier this week, on one of our evening quarantine walks, we found ourselves smack dab in a protest.  Cops shot a man who broke Covid curfew and everyone is upset about it, among other things.  Crazy stuff happening over here!  The next day our mission pres set a curfew for all the missionaries, so now we are all in by 6.  No more protesting for us;) We have been handed SO many projects in the past week.  Pretty funny I am a tech specialist because I cannot even work this stinking samsung hahaha.  Learning a lot over here.  But we have had to text almost every single missionary in the mission about assignments for a virtual fireside or about the facebook page in the last week.  Most people we have texted at least 3 times....

Quarantine and Green Coke

December 7, 2020 Hello people!!! We are in quarantine! Luckily not permanent... yet. We were with some missionaries who have Covid so we have had wayy too many inside days this week! If everything goes according to plan, we will be set free on Wednesday!  This week was good, difficult in different ways for sure. We had some exchanges planned but had to cancel them, and we have a lot we are supposed to be doing with the mission FB page but have no wifi at our apartment! It has been a much slower week than usual. But it has been great for language study!  I have loved seeing everyone #lighttheworld. I am so grateful for all you and the lights you are in my life. Some exciting things this week:  Our cutie investigator Aina FINALLY got permission from her dad to be baptized!! Missionaries have been working with her for over a year. Such a miracle.  Bezzant and I tried "Green Coke" and Diet is still the best. I have found that Albanians have their own words for "Dumbledor...

November 30, 2020  Hellooo! I have been in Tirana for nearly two weeks now and I LOVE IT. Big city energy is so fun. Sister Bezzant is from Utah, has been on Provo's Most Eligible and dabs a lot. She is awesome and it has been a party. I totally fan girl over her. We did splits with some of the Macedonian sisters last week and I was really put on the spot with my Albanian haha. I found myself in a lesson with 3 Albanians and 2 Macedonian speaking sisters.  Gift of tongues came in clutch and the lesson went well! It was fun and scary. The best combo right? I loved President Nelsons video and his challenge to be more grateful.  Seeing friends and family posting things they are grateful for has made me feel so connected to them!  Even science can prove that gratitude is SO GOOD for you! Moments this week: Restaurant owner gave us all free non-alcoholic beers because we said his restaurant was the best in Albania. Thanks? We found red velvet cake on my birthday!! Then la...

November 16, 2020 Hello people!!! Transfers! I am headed out of my cute mountain town Berat and to ... TIRANA (Capital of Albania)!   I will be comps with Sister Bezzant and I am so stoked. I have loved Berat and the members here. SUCH FUNNY PEOPLE. I will also miss my companion, sister Cermeli. She is a hoot.  I am really sad to be leaving Dona! She accepted her bap date this week and will be baptized mid-December. I am so stoked for her; she is so ready!  Sister Johnson and I had an exchange in Korçe this week and it was #lit. We gave a lesson all by ourselves in Albanian and it went REALLY WELL #miracle. Korçe feels like real Europe, Sis Johnson,  you are living the high life. I found imported DIET COKE this week!!  It was like an early birthday present from Heavenly Father. Looks like He celebrates birthday month as well ;).  I literally bought 20 cans, my MSF took a blow to say the least. Albanian old people are actually crazy. It is the best thin...

Work for the Blessings...Am I Right?

November 9, 2020  Hii!! I felt so happy to be a missionary this week, so many good things happened! We are teaching a young mom right now, Dona. We invited Dona to church and told her we would walk with her. When we showed up to her house on Sunday she had brought her mom and sons!! After, on the way home she told us that she wanted to be baptized, like really soon. It was amazing!! One of my favorite things about teaching people the gospel is watching the Spirit change their demeanor. You can see a light in their eyes. I LOVE IT. At a lesson with our neighbors this week (!!!) a lady gave me some green olives and olive oil. Yum right? Mm well, green olives straight off the tree are nottt edible. And i learned that a few weeks ago harvesting olives when I tried one! So. I ate the supppper bitter olive and smiled through the pain. Then she told me to drink the olive oil.  Did you know that drinking olive oil keeps you safe from Covid? Me neither. It was an interesting lesson to ...
