Work for the Blessings...Am I Right?

November 9, 2020

Hii!!

I felt so happy to be a missionary this week, so many good things happened!

We are teaching a young mom right now, Dona. We invited Dona to church and told her we would walk with her. When we showed up to her house on Sunday she had brought her mom and sons!! After, on the way home she told us that she wanted to be baptized, like really soon. It was amazing!! One of my favorite things about teaching people the gospel is watching the Spirit change their demeanor. You can see a light in their eyes. I LOVE IT.

At a lesson with our neighbors this week (!!!) a lady gave me some green olives and olive oil. Yum right? Mm well, green olives straight off the tree are nottt edible. And i learned that a few weeks ago harvesting olives when I tried one! So. I ate the supppper bitter olive and smiled through the pain. Then she told me to drink the olive oil.  Did you know that drinking olive oil keeps you safe from Covid? Me neither. It was an interesting lesson to say the least, and now I'm good as vaccinated!! 🥳

We have had soo many problems with organization in our lil branch, but this week we saw much improvement.  Most of the congregation usually gets up and leaves during the first talk after sacrament. But fiiinally this week we were able to convince people it's important to stay the whole time. And most of them did!! Man, I will never take an organized, fully fuctioning, Salt Lake ward for granted ever again.

We are currently teaching three adults who don't know how to read.  It is very humbling and brings many new challenges in teaching. Everyone reading this email- we are so lucky!

I got pulled over for the third time this week, and sadly did not get away with it.  The police was one smart cookie and whipped out google translate in combat to my big smile and hearty american "Hello, how are you, I'm soooo sorry!!".  Probably has something to do with the fact that this police was a ~she~.

I have felt such a boost of motivation this week. Time is precious, no matter how slow it seems to move sometimes.

A quote I loved from a my mama sent me was:  "A small course correction will lead to a different destination." I LOVE THAT! It is sometimes super overwhelming thinking about how much self improvement and self bettering I have to do.  But this week I have focused on the little goals, and I truly am at a different destination than I was at last week!

Therefore, fear not, little flock; do good; let earth and hell combine against you, for if ye are built upon my rock, they cannot prevail.
